Composing a simple tune

This is based upon the default keys and version 0.001 of the Editor.

The tune is a single Pattern of changing notes.

First load the editor. The system will begin in the List Editor on row 1. Three Tracks are set up already but no notes or SFX exist yet.

Press CTRL RIGHT to move to Track BCTRL LEFT and CTRL RIGHT navigate the Track row by Track rather than field
Press R to Rest the Track
Press CTRL RIGHT to move to Track C
Press R to Rest the TrackNow just the first Track will exist
Press CTRL P to enter the Pattern EditorThe three Tracks now appear as 3 Pattern columns.
Press C then 4 to set the note C-4By default the SFX will be set to 00 and the volume to 15
Press CTRL S to enter the SFX EditorThe current note (C-4) will be used when testing the Effect (shown in the Top right)
Press / to enter the Command Skip Loop on Volume Over
Move to the next Row downMove up and down with the cursor keys
Press D to delay the SFX by 1
Move to the next Row down
Press V twice to DEC VOLUME BY 01Pressing V once will enter the command INC VOLUME BY 01, Pressing V again will change INC to DEC, Pressing again will return to INC
Move to the next Row down
Press L to enter LOOP TO ROW 02
Press - to reduce row to 01 (the Delay)It is very important that all Loops contain a delay otherwise the system is not given ample time to process other events
Press ENTER to Hear the soundThe note (C-4) will begin high and fade to zero quite rapidly then end.
Press CTRL P to return to the Pattern Editor
Move down to row 03
Press D then 4 to set the note D-4
Move down to row 04
Press F then 4 to set the note F-4
Move down to row 06
Press D then 4 to set the note D-4
Move back up to row 00Either by repeatedly pressing Cursor Up or with CTRL UP (Home)
Highlight down to row 07Use SHIFT DOWN to highlight down. If you go too far, Press SHIFT UP
Press CTRL C to copy the highlighted area
Move down to Row 08
Press CTRL V to paste the notes
Move to row 14
Press G to change the note from D to G
Move back to Entry 00
Highlight (like before) from 00 to 15
Press CTRL C to Copy section
Move to Row 16 and CTRL V
Move to Row 30 and change the D-4 to A-4
Highlight from 00 to 31 and Copy (CTRL C)
Paste(CTRL V) on Row 32During edit you can listen to the current Pattern just by Pressing RETURN

Now lets bring in Track B..

Press CTRL L to return to the List Editor
Move to the next Row down and Press CTRL I to insert a new Track row
Move the cursor back to the first track on row 02
Press , to Copy the Previous Row to the current
Move to Track BTracks always run from left( A ) to right( H )
Press = twice to Enter Pattern 001By default the Sound Source will be set to 00
Move right to the Sound Source and Press = onceNotice that the status bar now displays CHP-B V-B instead of CHP-A V-A
Press CTRL P to return to the Pattern Editor
Move to row 00 but Track BLike the List Editor you can CTRL LEFT or CTRL RIGHT to navigate by Track rather than field
Press C then 3 to enter C-3
Move to the SFX fieldIts the last field of the track and currently has 00 in it
Increment ( = ) to 01
Press CTRL S to edit SFX 01
Move to Row 00 of the SFX
Press / to enter Skip command againWe will construct a slow volume decaying note here but also with tremelo
Move to next row
Press D to Delay 01 and increment to 03Press - to decrement and = to increment
Move to next row
Press P to enter INC PITCH BY 01 and increment to 03Can also use DEL to reset value to 01 again
Move to next row
Press D to Delay 01 and increment to 03
Move to next row
Press P twice to enter DEC PITCH BY 01 and increment to 03
Move to next row
Press V twice to enter DEC VOLUME BY 01
Move to next row
Press L to enter LOOP TO ROW 05
Decrement ( - ) to loop to row 01
Press RETURN to listen to the EffectThe Effect will now play alot slower than SFX00 because we have increased the Delay
Press CTRL P to return to the Pattern Editor
Press J to Grab the C-3 entry
Move to Row 16 of Track B
Press K to Drop the note
Move the cursor over the first field(Note) of Row 8,Track B
Press A then 2 then = to change the note to A#2Use - and = to modify the note by semitones. So you could have entered the same note by pressing - twice taking C-3 down to A#3
Move to row 32 and Press K to drop again and change to A-3
Move to row 48 and Press K and change note to F-3
Press RETURN to hear the combination of Track A with Track BPress SHIFT S to stop any music
Return to the List Editor(CTRL L)

The song is very slow at the moment, so lets speed it up..

Move to Row 00 in the List Editor
Press RIGHT to select the Tempo field
Reduce the Tempo to 004The lower the value the faster the song. Use - and = to modify the value

The song is now finished (or just begun!) so time to Save it..

Press CTRL F to go to the Files EditorCTRL F will go to Files from any editor
Press FUNC F to select MUSIC FilterThe default filter is module but it is not recommended to save as a MODULE in this first version of AYT. Incidentally FUNC is Left ALT in Emulator
Move down to “????????? MUSIC” and Press FUNC S to Save new
Enter the filename (up to 9 Letters) then Press RETURNAfter a short pause the Cursor will reappear and the filename will appear in the directory list
Press CTRL L to return to the List EditorIf you make further changes and wait to save again, return to the file Editor with CTRL F then move cursor over filename and press FUNC S

Well done, you have created your first AYT tune!
